Annual Fall Leaf Collection

                                              Erlanger Public Works

                                                               2015

The City of Erlanger’s Annual Fall Leaf Collection Program is scheduled to begin the week of October 26th 2015. The program is scheduled to run through the week of December 7th, 2015. The City will again be divided into four collection zones. The last scheduled date of collection will be December 11th, 2015.

A tentative collection schedule with information about the four collection areas is enclosed and will be made available on the City’s website (www.ci.erlanger.ky.us) and has been published in local newspapers. Should you have any questions or need any further information about the leaf collection program, please feel free to call us at (859) 727-2525 between 8a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday or contact us via an email at info@erlangerpw.com.

Please keep in mind that this schedule is the tentative plan. It does not take into consideration poor weather conditions, equipment breakdowns, or other unforeseeable events that may hamper collection efforts. Therefore, we appreciate all of your support and patience as we try to provide you with the best level of service possible.

However, there may be days when we run ahead of schedule. Should this be the case, we will go ahead and start the next scheduled area. Do not be alarmed, we will return again on the scheduled day.

2015 LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM DO’S AND DON’TS

In order for our collection crews to safely and efficiently pick up leaves, the following things must be done. If they are not, your leaves may not be picked up.

-All leaves shall be raked out just behind the curb line

-Leaf piles shall be free from yard waste such as large limbs, branches, grass clippings, and discarded plants

-DO NOT put household waste or garbage in the leaf piles

 -DO NOT bag the leaves

-DO NOT rake the leaves into the street as this causes a traffic hazard

-DO NOT wet the leaves down, as the leaf machine will not be able to pick them up

-Whenever possible, DO NOT Park your vehicle in front of a large leaf pile as this will make it difficult for collection crews to pick up the leaves.

-PLEASE BE COURTEOUS OF YOUR NEIGHBORS AS WELL

-THERE WILL BE NO PICK UP OF LEAVES ON TURKEYFOOT ROAD

Leaf Schedule

The streets are not listed in the order that we run the routes.

We will try to get through the scheduled route for the day, but under some circumstances (weather, staffing, equipment failure, ect.) we will not get it done. We will finish it the following workday.

We will also get ahead of schedule, so if you see us on your street on a day different from the scheduled date, don’t worry, we will be back on the scheduled date.

 Year Round Trash Collection

Just a reminder for those participating in CSI’s recycling program: Items which are recyclable include all rigid #1 and #2 plastic container, aluminum and bi-metal cans, all glass bottles and jars, newspaper, office paper and flattened corrugated boxes. All paper and cardboard, needs to be separated from the other items.  Tie paper and cardboard into bundles, or place in paper grocery bags. Items such as pizza boxes containing food or grease residue are NOT recyclable. Overall compliance of the recycling program has been very good. If any resident is interested in the recycling program, you can call CSI at 513-771-4200 to inquire about signing up.

Also, some reminders about the regular trash collection: Large household items, such as sofas, chairs, etc. will be picked up if set out to the curb line. Items containing Freon, such as refrigerators and freezers need to have the Freon extracted by a certified technician before being set out. Construction debris needs to be tied into bundles or placed in containers with the weight not exceeding 75 pounds, with a limit of one cubic yard per pickup. Tree trimmings and brush, should be cut and tied into bundles not more than four feet in length and weighing not more then fifty pounds. These will be collected on the regular pick up. Automotive fluids, parts and tires are excluded from pick up.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Standards

Northern Kentucky Household Hazardous Waste Action Coalition 9/5/01

Paint Disposal

Paint can easily be disposed of in your garbage if it is solid. The easiest way to do this is remove the lid of the can and air-dry the paint. You may need to stir the paint occasionally to insure thorough drying. If you have a lot of paint, you may need to add kitty litter to the paint and then pour it out onto a sheet of cardboard or newspaper to allow it to dry faster. Of course you should make sure that the drying paint is away from children or pets. Once the paint is solid, you may throw it away with your regular garbage. Leave the lid off the paint can to show the driver that the paint is dry.

Motor Oil

Motor oil can be disposed of at many area automotive supply stores or oil changing centers for no charge. In our area these include Valvoline Oil Change, Auto Zone and Quickstop Oil Change. (Most of above have 5 gal. Limit per visit)

Antifreeze

Antifreeze can be dropped off for no charge at Kenton County Maintenance Department. Please call the Kenton Co. Solid Waste Hotline at 371-9198.

Household Cleaners

These products are water-soluble. They can be poured down the drain mixed with water. Never mix household cleaners when disposing.

Pesticides

The Department of Agriculture can provide information about pesticide disposal at 1-800-205-6543. They offer a pick-up service to farmers for disposal.
