Erlanger Fire/EMS receives SAFER ACT Grant to add 3 additional Firefighters

Erlanger Fire/EMS is pleased to announce that they have received another large grant from the 2010 SAFER Act. The 2010 SAFER Act was submitted to hire 3 personnel to increase our daily staffing from 9 persons to 10 persons. This grant pays 100% salary and benefits for 2 years, while we must commit to keeping these personnel on staff for a third year. The estimated award will be $471,852 for the 3-year performance period. According to the grant, these personnel are eligible to start June 1, 2011.

In the past, the Erlanger Fire/EMS Department has been awarded the following grants:

¨ 2003 AFG: $52,570 for wellness/fitness programs and equipment

¨ 2005 AFG: $118,066 for new turnout gear

¨ 2007 AFG: $193,372 for new radios, SCBA, and thermal imaging cameras

¨ 2008 AFG: $64,790 for TRT training

¨ 2009 AFG: $35,000 for replacement of the stand-by generator at Station 1

¨ 2010 AFG: $89,681 for gear, training material, and two heart monitors

These grants are just what was received from AFG and does not count the UASI money grant money.

Captain Dave McQuerry has been writing these grants since their inception and has done an outstanding job once again securing federal funding for our department. We would like to recognize and thank everyone for their hard work.
