7 Signs That You Need to Break Up

Every relationship, regardless of the nature, is going to have it’s good and bad days, especially romantic relationships. These rough patches can test relationships, but sometimes you can’t help but wonder if your relationship will or should make it through those tough times.

If your relationship is having more problems than you think it should, or you just feel like something is off, you may want to consider ending the relationship; being single is significantly better than being in a toxic relationship. If you’re having second thoughts about your relationship, take a look at these seven signs that you should break up.

1. You’re Always Arguing and Bickering

Couples will argue once in a while, and that’s okay; maybe someone had a terrible day or there was just miscommunication, but either way, it’s not the end of the world. If, on the other hand, you and your partner are constantly bickering and arguing, you should break up.

Most of the time both partners will eventually find level heads and will forgive one another and move on, but if you’re always arguing, that isn’t a healthy relationship, and it’s best if you end it. You may think that you’re great together as a couple, but if you can’t decide what to cook for dinner without creating a huge scene, you should see other people.

2. You Don’t Feel Like You’re A Priority To Them

You and your partner need to be putting in the same amount of effort into the relationship- you can’t be doing the heavy lifting all the time. A good relationship will see both partners making a conscious effort to be involved in each other’s lives, and if you haven’t seen your partner put in that effort, you might want to consider seeing someone new.

Your partner should want to be involved in your life, but if they keep putting their life, their needs ahead of yours, that is not someone you should be investing time and emotion into.

3. All You Do is F*ck

Sex is an important aspect of romantic relationships as well as casual relationships, but it can’t be the only thing keeping you two together. Sexual chemistry is great, but if it’s the only thing you do well together, you should see other people (but don’t hook up with them on the side!).

Sexual chemistry is all that really matters in casual relationships, but you need a lot more than that to have a successful, long term relationship. It’s great you have sexual chemistry, but if that’s all you’ve got together, you shouldn’t be dating.

4. You Never F*ck

If you and your partner had no trouble when it came to passion in the past, but now it’s all but gone, you might want to consider breaking up. Now, just because you don’t have sex as often as you used to doesn’t mean the relationship is dying or can’t be fixed, but that lack of passion can feel draining later on.

You may not want sex at this moment, but when you do, will your partner want to be intimate too? Have you lost that desire for your partner?

Can you last in a relationship that has lost it’s passion, or would you rather be with someone who will never lose that feeling for you?

5. They Ditch You On Date Night

Your partner should want to hang out with you and spend time with you; if they’re spending an inordinate amount of time working or out with their friends, they may not be the best person for you to date. Your partner should have you at the top of their priorities list, and if they’re always ditching you to get drinks with friends, you should ditch them for a new boo who will treat you right.

It’s fine to go out with friends every once in a while, but your partner should be spending a majority of their time with you! You should want to be together, but if you don’t share those feelings, you might want to look around for a new partner.

6 You Keep Breaking Up

We all know one couple that seems to break up every week, only to get back together shortly after. You don’t want to be in a relationship like that- they’re never on the same page, argue all the time, and never seem to be happy together.

Relationships should not be that rocky; a little argument or bickering now and then is natural, but breaking up all the time is not.

7. You Have Wandering Eyes

It’s not always the other partner’s fault when couples break up; sometimes it was you. If you find yourself looking around wondering what it’d be like if you were with that person or that person , you might actually want to consider doing just that.

Wouldn’t that make you look like an asshole? Yeah, but in the long run you’d be doing yourself and your partner a favor; by breaking up, you’re giving your partner and yourself a chance to find the people you’re really meant to be with.

Now, just because you’re a little curious about what it’d be like to be with a certain someone doesn’t mean you should give up on your current relationship. Instead, think about your relationship and what you want from your partner; if they aren’t checking a majority of the boxes, you might be right in looking elsewhere.

Relationships of all types will go through some rocky stages, but that’s natural; just because you and bae are not getting along or things are the way they used to be doesn’t mean you should break things off. You shouldn’t give up at the first sign of trouble, but if your relationship never seems to have a good day, you might consider seeing someone new.

Your relationship with bae should be a positive one; if it’s not, and if you feel like your relationship is showing a few of the above signs that you should break up, you should break up. Do each other a favor and find that person who really makes you happy- you’ll know when you find them.
