8/29/2012 - Rachel's Challenge on August 29th

A challenge to combat bullying and cultivate compassion is being issued to parents, students and the entire community as the Erlanger-Elsmere Schools invite the community to a free event entitled Rachel’s Challenge from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, at Scheben Gymnasium, 450 Bartlett Avenue, Erlanger.

Rachel’s Challenge is a series of student empowering programs and strategies that equip students and parents with the skills to combat bullying and ally feelings of isolation and despair by creating a culture of kindness and compassion. The program is based on the writings and life of 17-year-old Rachel Scott, who was the first student killed at Columbine High School in 1999 in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Students in the Erlanger-Elsmere Schools will participate in the Rachel's Challenge program on Monday, August 27, and Wednesday, August 29, during the school day. The Wednesday evening event is open to the entire community.

The community program will be held at Scheben Gym in Erlanger and is free. The public is invited, and no registration is required.
